What is a Statement & Assumption?
In this reasoning topic, a statement is given, followed by one or more assumptions. You must decide which assumption(s) is/are **implicit** in the statement.
Definition: An assumption is something that the speaker/writer takes for granted as true before stating something.
Key Rules to Solve
- 🔹 An assumption is implicit only if it is **necessary** to make the statement meaningful.
- 🔹 Avoid assumptions based on general knowledge or personal opinions.
- 🔹 Look for **words like “should”, “must”, “ought to”** carefully—they often imply assumptions.
- 🔹 If the assumption goes beyond or contradicts the statement, it is **not implicit**.
